A Precious Gift For Mom

Greetings!
gem
With Mother's Day approaching, remember the words of William Shakespeare: "They do not love that do not show their love." All right, maybe he wasn't thinking about buying jewelry, but giving a precious gift is the ideal way of showing your appreciation for mom on her special day.

It's the time to have fun with jewelry, a time to be creative and to surprise her with a really artistic piece or indulge her taste for the classical. Colored stones traditionally play a starring role on Mother's Day--on rings, pendants and bracelets. Birthstones often come into play; so we can create inventive combinations of colors.

Charm bracelets are a possibility for a less formal look--and we'll make them fancier with colored stones or add a charm for each child and grandchild. Each piece can be adorned with a colored stone, or a charm representing the many phases of motherhood or mom's favorite hobbies. Whatever you choose, she'll feel treasured.

Definition of the Emerald,
the May Birthstone

3Emeralds are fascinating gemstones with the most beautiful, intense and radiant color imaginable: emerald green. Emerald is regarded as the traditional birthstone for May, as well as the traditional gemstone for the astrological signs of Taurus, Cancer and sometimes Gemini.

This stone has long been regarded as a symbol of fertility, rebirth and springtime. The most prized varieties are the color of green grass. In ancient Rome, emeralds were valued for their protective qualities and calming effects. In some cultures, the emerald is the traditional gift for the 55th wedding anniversary, and also used as a 20th and 35th wedding anniversary stone.

Emeralds range in price from quite cheap to incredibly expensive. Their quality too ranges from poor to sensational with a side warning about fakes. More so than any other gem, fake emeralds have popped up in the market.  These are excellent imitations made of colored cut glass. While quite pretty, they do not carry much value. Should you decide to purchase an emerald, be sure the source is reputable!
